As I painted these beach rocks the phrase ,"Don't take me for Granite" came to me . It was as if the beautiul black with white striped rocks were standing out , not wanting to be mistaken as just the common granite stones.

When I was a child, we called the striped beach rocks "wishing stones" . After making a wish on them we would toss them as far into the ocean as we could, believing that as long as no one else picked them up and did the same , our wish would come true.
